A Family's Hardships and Miracles As Told By: Dollie H. I am a 46-year old mother of four and grandmother of four; I've been married to my husband for twenty-eight years. Two years ago, our oldest daughter went through the scariest and most trying of times any parent or child can go through. She was twenty-five at the time, but in our eyes she will always be our baby. She was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, the one thing we all dread having to happen to anyone we love - unimaginable, happening to your own child. We felt blessed because it was operable and it hadn't spread. With that taken care of by the operation, she was then diagnosed the same year with what is called a Dermoid Cyst on her ovary. Surgery for that was done. She was then told that she also has Endometriosis (tissue lining the womb grows outside the womb in clumps). As if this wasn't enough, we were then told that she had what's called a Plural Effusion (fluid on the lungs). Hers was a rare case. Some of the endometrial tissue had traveled to the lining of her lung, so each month when she got her period, that space between her lung and rib cage would fill up with this bloody fluid. After having it drained a couple of times, a hysterectomy was the only guarantee of stopping this problem. Our daughter has no children and wants one desperately, so for us it wasn't an option. Surgery was only a temporary solution, as we were finding out. Now seeing what her options were at a fertility clinic in Omaha, we were told she had a huge Fibroid that had her uterus twisted completely out of shape and once again would need yet another surgery. We were told that it would be tricky, but doable. The Lord worked through this physician who saved her uterus. The only tube she has left has a blockage of scarring from the Endometriosis. Through "in-vitro fertilization," she may be able to have her baby, which she wants more than anything. Our major problem is this: she no longer has medical coverage and she has some more medical issues that desperately need attending. Her Plural Effusion is back, unchecked, and she has Pitted Edema. We still don't know the cause of the Pitted Edema. My husband and I are making this PLEA to WHOEVER can help. We are desperate. Insurance companies are limited to her because she's had cancer within the last five years, or we can't afford the rates. I'm a beautician, my husband is a Disabled Vet, and our daughter is a Licensed Vocational Nurse. We are by no means well off. God Bless anyone reading this tenfold for any help or suggestions.
