Health Insurance Outrage

As Told By: Aaron W.

Hi, I'll try to keep this as nice as possible. I'm a 39 year old black male. I live in Waterloo, Iowa. I am so fed up with the health care in this country. I currently pay about $150.00 a week for health insurance. In a 40 hour work week with no overtime, I make $550-600.00 pay. Now let's subtract $150.00 for health ins. and another $80-100.00 for taxes. That's right - the government and insurance companies take $250.00 of my paycheck every week. If I miss a half day, a day, or a week of work due to illness or injury, I am screwed!

At this point, health insurance is killing my family instead of maintaining what health we have. Four out of five people in my household wear glasses. My three children all have asthma. We try to avoid trips to the doctor if we can because, in addition to what they already take, we have to pay a $15.00 co-payment per person per visit. Where is that money supposed to come from? They've already reduced my income to $350.00 a week or less. How do you break this cycle? I still have rent, an auto loan, groceries, clothing, school fees, supplies, and lunches.

I've been at my job for over ten years. If the reason our health care costs so much is that the owners won't pay any more into the plan, then I suggest that they invest in some bodyguards. This crap is getting to the point where some people might decide to go postal! As for our crooked government, it's about time we had a second revolution or civil war, because hard-working people are tired of the corruption and special interest groups. What happened to "of the people, by the people, and for the people"?
